CRYSTAL DRIVE @ RAILROAD CROSSING
CLOSED FOR REPLACEMENT APRIL 4th - APRIL 10th

Fort Myers, FL, March 24, 2003 - CRYSTAL DRIVE WILL BE CLOSED AT THE RAILROAD CROSSING TO ALL VEHICULAR AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC FROM APRIL 4th to APRIL 10th. The Lee County Department of Transportation will be replacing the railroad crossing on Crystal Drive and it is necessary to completely close the crossing area while the work is being performed. Plans to resurface Crystal Drive from U.S. 41 to Metro Parkway are scheduled for later this summer.

Crystal Drive will close at the railroad tracks beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4th and will remain closed until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10th. During this time, use of alternate east-west routes such as Colonial Boulevard or Danley Drive to the north and Daniels Parkway to the south will be required. Streets to businesses and residences located off Crystal Drive from U.S. 41 to Fordham Street will remain open to local traffic only. Crystal Drive will not be a through road during this period. Businesses and residences on Crystal Drive were mailed notification letters regarding the closing. Variable message signs will be used to inform travelers of the closing and to use alternate routes.

Emergency and community service providers have been notified about the closure of the roadway.
