LEE TRAN ADDING TROLLEY,
GETTING TO FORT MYERS BEACH NOW MORE CONVENIENT

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 3, 2003) - Beginning Thursday (Mar. 6), LeeTran will add a second trolley to its "Park & Ride" route from Summerlin Square to Bowditch Point Regional Park.

There is no fare for riding the Park & Ride Trolley.

This additional trolley will make service to Fort Myers Beach even more convenient. LeeTran's Park & Ride service operates every 40 minutes from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., seven days a week until April 30. The new trolley will increase service to about every 20 minutes from 9:50 a.m. to 6:50 p.m.

In January, the Park & Ride route carried more than 12,000 people. The Park & Ride Trolley service is perfect for people who don't want to fight traffic onto the beach and then struggle to find parking once they get there.

Riders can park their cars for free at either Summerlin Square, at the corner of Summerlin Road and San Carlos Boulevard, or at the parking lot on Main Street just before the Matanzas Pass Bridge.

Tran operates 20 bus routes in Lee County and its cities, as well as a trolley service on Fort Myers Beach. The system operates 43 buses and eight trolleys, employs 163 people and has an annual budget of $15 million.
