Household Chemical & Electronic Waste Collection
Saturday, Jan. 25th, 2003
in Cape Coral

FORT MYERS, Fla. (January 22, 2003) – The Lee County Solid Waste Division is holding a Household Chemical & Electronic Waste Collection (formerly Household Hazardous Waste Collection) on Saturday, January 25th, 2003, from 8 AM to 2 PM at the Cape Coral Public Works Annex on SE 16th Place/Everest Parkway (take Del Prado Blvd. and turn at traffic light onto SE 26th Street (first intersection light south of Veterans Memorial Parkway) and follow signs).

Residents get a chance to take those items to the drop off site that are a hazard to humans, animals, and the environment plus these items do tend to clutter up the garage (old paints, thinners, automotive fluids, pesticides, fertilizers, propane grill gas tanks, car and boat batteries, pool chemicals, drain cleaners, fluorescent tubes and all items that are marked dangerous, flammable, toxic, poison, reactive, corrosive).  Also accepted are ammunition and flares.

Residents that received the latest computer or electronic gadget as a Christmas gift and now have outdated or unwanted electronics taking up space in the garage or a closet may bring these unwanted items to the collection.  During the recycling process all information on computer hard drive will be erased. Once taken apart, components of electronic items become a valuable resource and will be recycled.

Remember to please keep our environment save and clean by keeping all these materials out of our normal solid waste stream!

The next collection is scheduled for March 22nd at Page Field.

Thanks for your participation.
