SANIBEL CAUSEWAY TO REOPEN SIX HOURS EARLY

FORT MYERS, Fla. (January 20, 2003) – The Sanibel Causeway is scheduled to reopen at midnight after repairs to fix cracked beams in the middle bridge.

Repairs went well today and the scheduled reopening of 6 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 21) has been moved up six hours.

Tolls will be reinstated at midnight, even if clean-up crews should open the bridge slightly earlier.

Lee County’s Department of Transportation wishes to thank all the public and private organizations that were involved in minimizing the disruption caused by the closure.
