REMEMBERED” 9-11 COMMEMORATION TO BE BROADCAST LIVE
FORT MYERS, Fla. (September 9, 2002) – Lee County’s “Patriots Remembered” Commemorative Ceremony of the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attacks on America will be broadcast live locally by FOX4-TV and WOLZ-FM “Oldies 95.3.”
The ceremony, featuring the music of the Southwest Florida Symphony Chorus, will be held Wednesday, September 11 at noon on the steps of the Old County Courthouse, 2120 Main Street in downtown Fort Myers. The master of ceremonies will be County Commissioner Doug St. Cerny.
The 45-minute ceremony will include patriotic music, presentation of the colors, the laying of a wreath, and remarks by local representatives of government, law enforcement and the fire/emergency rescue community.
Just prior to
the ceremony at 11:30 a.m., a processional of public safety and emergency services personnel, with bagpipes and drums,
will be led from Harborside Convention Hall to the Old County Courthouse.
The commemoration is being planned with the help of the cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Sanibel, Bonita Springs and Town of Fort Myers Beach; local fire districts; the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Myers, Cape Coral and Sanibel police departments; the Lee County School District; the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce; the American Red Cross; Harvey/Engelhardt/Metz Funeral Home and the Southwest Florida Symphony Chorus.
