LEE COUNTY LAWS/ADMINISTRATIVE CODES EASIER TO ACCESS ON NET

 

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 8, 2002) – Lee County citizens now have improved access to Lee County Ordinances and Administrative Codes through a new keyword search engine on the county’s Internet web site. 

The search engine accesses only the county’s ordinances and administrative codes databases – so it eliminates retrieving extraneous information that may not be relevant to the search. 

It is located at www.lee-county.com under “Online Documents,” or directly at http://www.lee-county.com/Governance/search.asp. 

County ordinances are local laws enacted by the Board of Lee County Commissioners.  Administrative codes are the policies and procedures that govern how the county conducts its business. 

This is one of many technological innovations the county has developed over the last several years to make county government information more accessible and improve communication with the public. 

One of the county’s goals is to use technology, such as the Internet, to make it easier for taxpayers and customers to do business with the county without having to physically come to a county building or facility.  The county recently redesigned its web site, www.lee-county.com, to make it easier for residents to navigate and get information.  Other applications on the web site include:
