LEE COUNTY PLANS SEPTEMBER 11 COMMEMORATION AT COURTHOUSE

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 5, 2002) – Lee County, along with its cities, fire, police and emergency agencies is holding a joint anniversary commemoration of the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attacks on America that will feature music of the Southwest Florida Symphony Chorus. 

The ceremony will be held Wednesday, September 11 at noon on the steps of the Old County Courthouse, 2120 Main Street in downtown Fort Myers.  The master of ceremonies will be County Commissioner Doug St. Cerny. 

The ceremony will include patriotic music, presentation of the colors and remarks by local representatives of government, law enforcement and the fire/emergency rescue community. 

The commemoration is being planned with the help of the cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Sanibel, Bonita Springs and Town of Fort Myers Beach; local fire districts; the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Myers, Cape Coral and Sanibel police departments; the Lee County School District; the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce; the American Red Cross; Harvey/Engelhardt/Metz Funeral Home and the Southwest Florida Symphony Chorus.
