LEE COUNTY NOW BROADCASTING IN
DOWNTOWN FT. MYERS
FORT MYERS, Fl. (January 16, 2002) - Lee County residents who live near downtown Ft. Myers will now be able to watch programming about Lee County Government 24 hours a day. ComCast Cablevision subscribers in the area can now tune in to Lee TV, channel 11 and watch Board of County Commission meetings, Lee TV Newswrap - the county's news and information program, county information displayed via an electronic bulletin board, plus other government programming.
ComCast purchased the Adelphia cable system, which serves the downtown Ft. Myers area. The company has been upgrading the system to fiber optic and the change will affect about 15,000 subscribers. The rest of the old Adelphia system will be finished later this year. Customers in those areas will be continue to watch the Lee County BOCC and M&P meetings, and public hearings when they are broadcast live on channel 19.
This will bring the total number of cable subscribers that have full time access to Lee TV to 134,000 homes. Lee TV can also be viewed on the Time Warner Cable system, channel 16 and in Lehigh Acres on the ComCast system, channel 27.
In addition to live meetings and Newswrap, viewers will be able to watch rebroadcasts of the weekly BOCC regular meeting, plus programming from the Lee County Sheriff's Department, Lee County Parks and Recreation, the Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau, and the University of Florida's Agricultural Extension Service.
