LEE COUNTY HIRES NEW BUDGET SERVICES DIRECTOR

 

FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 12, 2000) – Lee County Government has hired a new Budget Services Director who will oversee the county’s $500-million budget and provide fiscal analysis and coordination for the county’s 25 departments and divisions.

 

Antonio B. Majul Jr. comes to Lee County from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he most recently served for four years as Dean of Business Affairs for Baton Rouge Community College.  From 1978 to 1996, Majul held various budget and finance positions with Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey, rising to Vice President of Budget and Finance.  He has 28 years of senior administrative experience in the public sector, including 13 years as a chief budget and fiscal officer.  Majul replaces Larry Suchor, who retired in January.

 

Majul holds a bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in accounting from Ateneo (Jesuit) College in the Philippines and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.   He is married and has a son and a daughter, both just out of college.

 

The county’s Budget Services function is within County Administration, employs nine analysts, coordinators and program managers, and has a budget of $1 million.

 

The Board of Lee County Commissioners (BOCC) employs about 1,750 people in 25 department and divisions, including Transportation, Parks & Recreation, Libraries, Public Safety, Human Services, Utilities, Solid Waste, Natural Resources, Community Development, Animal Services, Transit, Economic Development, and Visitor & Convention Bureau.
