IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 17, 2000) – Checking the status of materials at the Lee County Library System is no further away than your home computer now that the Library System’s catalog is on the web.
Patrons can see if a title is available, place a hold, check their record, see if a hold has arrived, and search the catalog on any topic. The Internet address is www.lee-county.com/library. The site also includes information on library programs, suggestions on good books and listings of reference sites on the web.
“This just offers one more avenue for accessing the Library System’s services,” says Director Cynthia Cobb. “It should be especially helpful for patrons to get information when libraries are closed.”
The
Lee County Library System has three regional libraries, eight branch libraries,
and special services including a Bookmobile, a Talking Books library, a
Books-By-Mail program and a Family Literacy Program. The Library System circulates more than 2.5 million books
annually, adds 100,000 new books to its collection each year and now has public
Internet access at all of its locations.
It currently is building its 12th location, East County
Regional Library, in Lehigh Acres.
