PUBLIC MEETING PLANNED FOR LEE BOULEVARD WIDENING

FORT MYERS, Fla. (December 27, 2001) – Lee County’s Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting Tuesday, January 8 to discuss the widening of Lee Boulevard from Homestead Road to Leeland Heights Boulevard.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria of Lehigh Acres Middle School, 104 Arthur Avenue in Lehigh Acres.

The proposed project is a 0.9-mile continuation of the widening of Lee Boulevard. The portion from Homestead Road to Williams Road will be widened to four lanes and from Williams Road to Leeland Heights Boulevard will be widened to three lanes and sidewalks added. Estimated cost is $1.7 million.

The widening is expected to start in April and take about a year to complete.
