LEE TO FLY POW/MIA FLAGS FROM COUNTY FACILITIES STARTING SEP. 11

FORT MYERS, Fla. (September 10, 2001) – Lee County will begin flying POW/MIA flags from its facilities starting Tuesday (Sep. 11) to recognize the sacrifices military personnel have made for our country.

At its meeting Tuesday, the Board of Lee County Commissioners will read a resolution (see below) proclaiming the week of September 17th POW/MIA Recognition Week in Lee County. Immediately following the resolution, POW/MIA flags will be raised on flagpoles at 37 county facilities, including libraries, parks facilities, county buildings and the Port Authority. The Board meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Old County Courthouse, 2120 Main Street in downtown Fort Myers.

In May, the Board agreed to fly the flags on all county flagpoles.
