Madeleine Plummer has been promoted to Regional Library Manager of the Fort Myers - Lee County Public Library.

Madeleine grew up in Fort Myers and graduated from Fort Myers High School. She went on to earn a Master's Degree in Library Science at the University of South Florida.

Madeleine joined the Lee County Library System in 1993, as a Library Technician at the Rutenberg Branch Library. In 1995, she was promoted to Librarian at the Fort Myers - Lee County Public Library.

Madeleine then went on to serve the Lee County Library System at the Cape Coral - Lee County Public Library.

In each of her assignments, Madeleine won praise from Library Patrons and co-workers alike, for her excellent public service, cheerful and professional attitude, and the spirit of teamwork she inspires.

In addition to her regular duties, Madeleine has been recognized for her major contributions to the Lee County Reading Festival and her role in the Southwest Florida Library Network. She is strongly committed to the community and is very involved in outreach services to ensure the public is well informed of Library Services. She coordinates and edits a weekly book column for the "Sun Press."

Madeleine says returning to the Fort Myers - Lee County Public Library as its manager is "a dream come true." She starts her new duties July 26, 2001.
