LEE HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR GOING TO WATERMARK COMMUNITIES

FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 16, 2001) – Lee County Human Resources Director Joanie Glance has accepted a position as Director, Human Resources for the southwest region with Watermark Communities Inc., developer of such local master-planned communities as Gulf Harbour, Pelican Landing and Gateway.

Glance will start her new job in two to three weeks. Watermark employs more than 2,500 people in Florida and generates nearly $900 million in annual revenues.

Glance has been with the county for 4 1/2 years. She worked in marketing for Lee Tran before being named Human Resources Director in February 1999.

Glance has extensive experience in the field of Human Resources. She has worked for KeyCorp as the Florida State Manager of Human Resources; for Burlington Northern Railroad as Director, Human Resources, Finance; and for Motorola as a senior human resources specialist.

She holds a doctorate in corporate health from Texas Women’s University; a master’s degree in counseling from Texas Christian University; and a bachelor’s degree in art education from Mercyhurst College.

"We are going to miss Joanie’s commitment to excellence and her vast expertise," said County Manager Don Stilwell. "She has developed our Human Resources Department into a much more progressive, professional and dynamic department and – as she moves on to a better opportunity – I know she takes with her that enthusiasm for making things better."

Lee County Human Resources manages the records, employee relations, benefits, staffing and compensation of Lee County Government’s 25 departments and divisions and 2,000 employees.
