The new 8.5 million dollar East County Regional Library is about five times the size of the old Lehigh Acres Library, at 40 thousand square feet. It features about 60 computers, comfortable, attractive seating in every section and a meeting room for up to 150 people.

The new library is located next to Lehigh Acres Senior High School and has a wonderful area for teens and young adults. It features, neon lighting, cool, brightly colored seating and it’s own selection of cd's videos, magazines and favorite books for young adults.

Younger children have a huge section all their own, with kid’s size furniture, a story time room, puppet theater and even a "cry room" for moms with infants.

The Library materials include more than 100 thousand holdings and nearly 250 periodicals. There is a strong collection of resources on Agricultural Sciences, Animal Care, and Child Development.

State and local officials will be on hand for the opening celebration. We’ll also have entertainment including a string trio and magician. Children will enjoy visiting story book characters and story telling by a noted children's author.

There’s also free, continuous trolley service, running to and from the Lehigh Acres Publix shopping center starting May 12th.
