INFORMATIONAL MEETING PLANNED FOR THREE OAKS EXTENSION SOUTH

FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 27, 2001) – Lee County is inviting residents to attend a public informational meeting May 3 to discuss the proposed alignment of a segment of the Three Oaks Parkway Extension.

The segment is from Bonita Bill Street (south side of The Brooks) south to an intersection with East Terry Street in the vicinity of Matheson Avenue.

The meeting will be at the Bonita Springs Community Center, 27381 Old Route 41, which is located at the corner of Reynolds Street and Old 41. It will start at 6:30 p.m.

The segment is part of the overall southward extension of Three Oaks Parkway from where it ends now at Corkscrew Road to the Collier County line, where it will link with Livingston Road. The Brooks to East Terry Street segment is scheduled for construction in fiscal year 2004-05.

Three Oaks Parkway also will be extended from north of Alico Road to Daniels Parkway. Once all segments are complete they will comprise a 17-mile-long major corridor that runs west of and parallel to Interstate 75 from the Collier County line to Daniels Parkway. The combined cost of all segments is estimated at $28 million. The existing Three Oaks Parkway also is scheduled to be four-laned.

The May 3 (Thursday) informational meeting on The Brooks/East Terry Street segment is being held to receive comments from the general public as well as to inform the public of the project’s improvements and impacts. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. with introductions and a brief presentation of the proposed improvements, followed by an opportunity for public input.

Aerial photographs depicting the project’s proposed location and improvements will be on display and county representatives will be available to answer questions and discuss the project.
