Coy Chairs Tourist Development Council for Fourth Term
LEE ISLAND COAST, FL – For the fourth time, the Lee County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has appointed Commissioner Andrew W. Coy as chairman of the Tourist Development Council (TDC) effective today. He previously served as chairman in 1995, 1996, and 1998.
The 24-year Lee County resident graduated from North Fort Myers High School and Edison Community College prior to earning his BA and MA degrees from the University of Florida and the University of South Florida, respectively. A keen interest in education led Coy to his 12-year career in the Lee County Public School System. His dedication to public service continues in his second term as a Lee County Commissioner.
In addition to Coy’s appointment as TDC chairman, his other current liaison positions include Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Veterans Advisory Board, Solid Waste and Utilities, Southwest Florida Fair Advisory Board, and the Lee County School Board. In the past, Coy has served on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Science Center, the Metropolitan Planning Organization Advisory Committee, and the National Conference of Republican County Officials.
Commissioner Coy replaces BOCC Chairman John Albion on the nine-member TDC, which was established in 1983 to increase off-season tourism.
